Info:
Angela
It is not surprising that Angela’s many years of service in the Police naturally led to her to become an Independent Celebrant. Over the years she had to break the worst kind of news to family members and through this came to understand the importance of that first meeting in supporting someone through the most difficult of times. As Angela took on more senior roles she had honour of organising several Police ‘in service’ funerals. Providing a dignified and honourable service for a colleague, whilst ensuring a family can say goodbye in their own unique way, was a privilege.

Following her years of public service Angela has spent the latter part of her working life in the Voluntary sector working with and for vulnerable adults and children and most recently developing services for older people. A theme throughout her working life has been recognising the diverse nature of our communities and ensuring each individual’s needs can be met. Developing this thread as an Independent Celebrant has enabled Angela to help clients plan the ceremony that they would like in a truly individual and personal way.

When Angela is away from work she enjoys her equal passions of Yoga and Argentinean Tango. More importantly she likes to spend time with family and friends who help her keep life in perspective.

Penny
Remembering just how hard it was to plan her own husbands funeral a few years ago led Penny to the role of Independent Celebrant, supporting others in the planning and delivery of the funerals of their loved ones. A natural progression from her work over the previous ten years in the role of Deputy Registrar of Births, Deaths and Marriages. As a Registrar, Penny was often the first official person a family saw following a death. Never an easy task, families would frequently tell her that she had made a very scary prospect much easier than anticipated. She also has a wide experience of leading couples through their wedding and other ceremonies. Helping them to achieve the ceremonies they have always dreamed of having has increased her satisfaction in the role 100%

Prior to this, Penny spent most of her working life in the Voluntary sector, working as an Advocate for a variety of people, including adults with Learning Disabilities, victims of violence and latterly people living in poor rural communities in Developing Countries. This combined experience Penny now uses to support her clients in the planning of their loved ones funeral. Writing and delivering personalised ceremonies that truly represent the persons life in a friendly and professional way.

When she is not working Penny can be found working in her garden, often with a grandchild or two in tow or dancing the Argentine Tango. She also enjoys writing fiction and cooking for hoards of people.

“I enjoy working with people, listening to their stories, working out what is important to them and then writing a ceremony that truly represents their lives or that of the loved one they have lost.
